Holly Howe is family owned and run. We bought the cottage in 1994 and chose it for its convenient location and lovely views. We visit the cottage each year ourselves but we've always made it available for holiday lets. We let directly to guests rather than using an agent or letting platform, this keep overheads down and enables us to offer good value.
The cottage is on three floors plus cellar and can sleep up to 6 people. There are three bedrooms, one with kingsize bed, one with double and one with two singles. We have a private parking space for one car.
The garden at the back is on a steep slope (topographically it's the bottom of Wansfell Pike) but there is a terrace and summer house that provide level platforms.
From the front of the cottage you can look out over Ambleside to Loughrigg. On a clear day it is possible to pick out The Old Man of Coniston, Wetherlam, Pavey Ark and Sergeant Man. From the garden you can look north to the Fairfield Horseshoe.
The kitchen is equipped with a dual fuel cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, electric kettle and toaster.
The dining room has a china cabinet, pine table and chairs and a gas-burning heating stove.
The front door leads straight into the sitting room. The TV has Freeview Play and DVD/Blu-ray player. There is also a log burner (picture to be updated).
The Bathroom has a shower over the bath, wash basin and WC. Towels are provided. Next to the bathroom there is a large walk-in airing cupboard with hanging space (not provided in the bedrooms) and some extra shelf space.
The first floor bedroom has a king-size bed, chest of drawers and views over Ambleside.
The back bedroom has a double bed and chest of drawers. This room has a double-glazed picture window looking out to the summit of Wansfell Pike.
The front bedroom has twin beds. From the window On clear days you can just see Pavey Ark peeping over the horizon.
The cottage has a cellar with freezer, washing machine, tumble-dryer and the original stone sink where you can wash muddy boots. There is also a clothes hanging rail ideal for wet outdoor clothing. There is sufficient space for bike storage and maintenance
In the back garden there is a terrace with folding table and chairs.
The summer house at the top of the garden is insulated and has good views. It is ideal for chilly days.
